The Procurement and Spoolbase Lead Engineer reports to the Technical Manager and is responsible for the delivery of the major procurements and spoolbase scopes related to the Offshore Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation (EPCI) Contract.
The scope to be undertaken by the Procurement and Spoolbase Lead Engineer is split between;
- Procurement scopes include; seamless linepipe (2in to 16in), LSA DSAW linepipe 22in), CRA clad linepipe, bends, forged fittings (inc. 22in wyes), linepipe coatings, isolation joints, and flexible pipe jumpers.
- Spoolbase scope including; base setup and preparations, line pipe stringing/welding, and load-outs (spooling).
At peak, the Company Team reporting to the Procurement and Spoolbase Lead Engineer is expected to be between 5 and 10 personnel composed of full-time positions and third-party inspection positions. Procurement locations include; Germany (Eisenbauer Kramer – 22in Linepipe Mill), Netherlands (Lankhorst – Strakes), Italy (Viar – Structure Forgings), France (FlexiFrance – Flexible Pipe), Italy (FAI – Isolation Joints), UAE (K&N Warehouse – CPIs), UAE (Shawcor – Long Term Pipe Storage), Italy (ICP – Bracelet Anodes), France (AIS Bardot – Bend Restrictors), USA (Shawcor – Long Term Pipe Storage) and Indonesia (Shawcor – Long Term Pipe Storage). The TFMC spool base at Channelview (Texas, USA) will be used for the stringing and reeling of the line pipe.
The Procurement and Spoolbase Lead Engineer shall assume Company responsibility for the delivery of the major procurement scopes and the spoolbase scope in conjunction with his counterparts in the MTV Consortium. The job holder is expected to ensure the readiness and preparedness of MTV for the conduct of the work activities and then follow the work during execution ensuring that MTV conducts the work activities in line with agreed execution plans, technical requirements, and Project HSEQ management system.
Minimum Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent is required.
- Minimum of 10 years relevant track record covering technical aspects of line pipe supply/coating / flexible pipes / subsea equipment related procurements and spoolbase activities.
- Experienced engineer, able to assess and constructively challenge contractor technical recommendations and assist the contractor in arriving at the best for project outcomes.
- EPCI client team management experience in the delivery of technical scopes.
- Ability to get along well with others in an international / multi-cultural environment and take a pragmatic approach to problem-solving situations.
- Ability to multi-task and work as part of a small and flexible team.
- Desire to take responsibility for own area of work and to hold self accountable to deliver in accordance with responsibilities.
- Ability to develop good working relationships with contractors and contractor personnel and progress collaborative problem-solving.
- Fluid communicator capable of representing the project in front of third parties and other stakeholders in a professional and organized manner
- Fluency in the English language.
