Manager of Accounting
We are seeking a highly hands-on Manager of Accounting to lead day-to-day accounting operations and drive team performance in Houston, Texas. Candidates must have a CPA (licensed in Texas), strong technical accounting knowledge (US GAAP and IFRS), international accounting experience, direct involvement in managing audits and a proactive leadership style. This is a roll-up-your-sleeves role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment and is ready to take full ownership of accounting operations, audits, and compliance.
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer
Manages: Accounts Payable Specialists (2), Chartered Accountant (1)
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage day-to-day accounting operations, including journal entries, general ledger, month-end/year-end close, financial statements, budgeting, and tax reporting.
- Lead A/P operations and oversee accounting staff, providing coaching, training, and performance development to drive team effectiveness and accountability
- Serve as the primary audit focal point, leading US and international statutory audits, financial controls audits, and compliance reporting; manage the full audit process, coordinate responses, and provide all required documentation and support.
- Monitor and analyze accounting data, methods, and policies while evaluating and improving processes and systems for accuracy and efficiency
- Ensure adherence to US GAAP and maintain awareness of IFRS requirements, while maintaining accurate documentation of all transactions.
- Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested
Required Experience / Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Active CPA license (Texas)
- 5+ years progressive accounting experience
- 2+ years in oil & gas industry
- International accounting experience required; working knowledge of IFRS
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP
- Advanced Excel skills; ERP proficiency (Deltek Vision, Microsoft D365 preferred)
- Experience supervising and developing accounting staff
- Proven hands-on audit experience; serving as primary audit contact
- Clear, professional communication skills at all levels
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Status: Full-Time (W2) Employment
Work Schedule: Hybrid – 3 days in office / 2 days remote
